New CPF Board Member: Jose Alou
Jose Alou has been appointed to the Community Papers of Florida (CPF) Board of Directors.

When a vacancy occurs, the board of directors is empowered, according to the CPF by-laws, to fill that position. Alou will replace Jackie Cesaretti of the Florida Pennysaver, who recently resigned.

Alou has been active in CPF for a number of years, as well as an active participant in the association conferences.

In 1999 he started his publishing career as an outside salesperson for The Florida Pennysaver. After the company started LaPalma, an Hispanic publication in the West Palm Beach area, he was named its general manager.

A member the famous Alou family that excelled in major league baseball, he played for the Montreal Expos minor league system for four years. An injury ended his baseball career. He was also employed as a police officer for the City of Delray Beach for five years.

Alou is a native of San Francisco, but he grew up in the Dominican Republic. He attended the University of Florida.

He is involved in community service, serving on the executive board of The Hispanic Chamber of Palm Beach County. He is a graduate of the Leadership Palm Beach County, Leadership West Palm Beach and Leadership of Boynton Beach.

In his spare time Alou enjoys fishing, music and cooking.

Alou and his wife, Sharon, have two children: Taylor, 10, and Trevor, five.
