Annie Waite Wins Hiskin Award

Perpetual Plaque Remains at Tower for Another Year!

Ann Waite was named the recipient of the annual Community Papers of Florida (CPF) Terry Hisken Telemarketing Excellence Award at the annual CPF conference held in Orlando.

The award is presented to a telemarketing representative of a member publication who excels in selling CPF classified network ads. The award honors a rep that exhibits a great attitude in working with people, and who has increased sales over the previous years.

Waite has been one of the top producers of the telemarketing department of Tower Publications in Gainesville, Fla., for many years.

One of the free paper industry's top producers, Waite sells network ads year in and year out. She has consistently won contests selling network ads for the Association of Free Community Papers (AFCP) and the Community Papers of Florida (CPF).

Waite has been employed with the free paper industry since 1994. She joined Tower Publications in 1999 and quickly helped to develop a national classified department that now serves clients throughout the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico. Tower Publications publishes the Buyers Guide, a shopper publication, the Senior Times, a monthly serving that market, and numerous specialty publications in the area.

Through her association with national, regional and state free paper associations, Waite is recognized as a sales champion in her field.

The previous week at the annual Association of Free Community Papers (AFCP) conference held in Myrtle Beach, S.C., Waite was honored as one of the charter graduates of The Leadership Institute.

In receiving the award Waite said, "I want to thank you for honoring me with the Terry Hisken award. No other award could have meant as much to me as this one. Terry was a pioneer in our industry and I feel that she was the Best of the Best."

The award was established several years ago following Terry's death. As a member of TheFlyer.com's telemarketing team, she excelled in network sales. She was not only a leader who loved to help telemarketing reps excel at their jobs, but also a genuine person. She is credited with getting CPF on track financially. During the 1990s when CPF was struggling to survive, Terry stepped up to the plate and sold numerous ads.

The president of Tower Publications, Charlie Delatorre, made the presentation. Each year the recipient receives a perpetual trophy that must be handed off to the next winner after a year, a permanent plaque commemorating the award, and $500.
