2009 CPF Scholarship Recipient Named
Charles A. (Austin) Moisio was recently named the recipient of the Community Papers of Florida (CPF) annual scholarship.

Moisio recently graduated from Seabreeze High School in Daytona Beach. Through his senior year he earned a GPA of over 4.2. He completed advanced placement courses in English Composition, English Literature, Psychology, European History, American Government, Microeconomics, Statistics and Calculus AB.

His guidance counselor termed him a motivated young man who has taken the most rigorous curriculum available, as an outstanding young man who will be an excellent representative of the scholarship award, and as very likely to be successful in college.

Moisio has received numerous honors and awards. He has been active in the community and in working with other school events such as tutoring and the "Make a Difference Days" projects.

In making the announcement, Past CPF President Joyce Sullivan, who heads the scholarship committee, said, "One reference noted that Moisio has a selfless interest in helping his fellow students and teachers.

"He has worked part time evenings and weekends at a grocery store to save money for his future education.

"He has maintained a grade point average in his senior year that is twelfth highest among 447 students.

"This year's recipient will attend Florida State University, where he will pursue a degree in engineering.

"He is deserving of this award and I am proud to head a committee that helps a young person fulfill their dreams."

The scholarship is for $1,000 per year for up to five years. To receive the additional payments, he must provide proof that he remains in college and maintains at least a 2.5 grade point average.

Moisio's father, Richard, is employed at the Daytona Pennysaver.
